LIVING ROOM
Living room
is usually the
place where you
entertain your
guests and get
together with
your family to
chat or watch
TV. While some
have other
purposes for
their living
room like a
second dining
area or a room
for computer
games. No matter
what the purpose
is, the one
common thing a
living room
should have or
provide is
comfort. Thus,
it will be our
main goal in
this section –
to make sure we
provide a free
and comfortable
environment for
your living
room.
To start
working, here
are some great
tips:
Arrange
sofas, or chairs
and tables
together to
encourage
conversation and
close
interaction. If
you have a
television set,
arrange them in
a moon shape
around the TV so
that when you
are not in deep
discussion, the
arrangement can
make sure you
all get to watch
your favorite TV
shows. It always
looks neater if
these were
anchored to the
wall, but for
very wide
spaces, you can
create one set
for chatting and
another set for
watching
television right
in the middle of
the room as long
as you apply the
tips in our
Furniture
Arrangements
page.
Unlike your
bedroom, your
living room does
not require as
much privacy, so
instead of using
thick fabric for
your curtain,
use blinds or
draperies which
can be easily
adjusted to
allow enough
sunlight in
during the day.
Lighting will do
miracles in
changing the
mood of your
guests and/or
your family if
you have enough
of it in the
living room. It
will also make
your room look
bigger and
neater.
Add some
personal touch
by gathering
some of your
family’s best
pictures. You
can have them
enlarged if you
wish to. Their
frames can be of
any color as
long as they are
not either too
large or too
small on your
wall or your
rack. Use
proportion and
symmetry. Books,
magazines and
photo albums can
be arranged in a
rack or inside a
table cabinet
for guests who
will have to
wait.
