FURNITURE ARRANGEMENTS

You now have decided on a style, may well have started painting, and may have started creating some patterns, too. The next step is knowing how to arrange your furniture pieces to serve your style.

By now you already have an idea how your furnishings should be arranged based on the decorating you chose, but to make sure we cover the general aspects of furniture arrangements, we dedicate this special page giving you the basics.

A new trend has just begun during this serious time of global warming, and that’s having “eco-friendly” furniture pieces such as rattan, woven dried grass, wooden (usually maple) tables, chairs and beds or any other biodegradable material instead of plastic or metal. The good thing about this is that they are even easier to manage because they are lighter and usually no longer require paint job.

Now assuming you have all your pieces ready, we will start arranging them.

Assign and determine the focal point of the room. It could be a fireplace, a window or another furniture. This focal point will be the center of your furniture pieces. Your focal point should also be anchored to the wall, which means that you cannot choose a focal point that is in the center of the room.

Arrange sofas, chairs and tables nicely together (not far from each other) to create a certain feel of closeness and comfort for visitors.

Chairs should have enough space in front of them to give enough room for legs, bags and other things that your visitor could have brought.

Height of tables should be as high as the arm rest of your chairs or sofas, or a little bit higher but not lower or too high.
